Position Overview
As the Procurement Director, you will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of sourcing and procurement projects, from planning and bid preparation to negotiation, invoicing, and reporting. You will play a critical role in developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with the company's business objectives, driving cost savings, and building collaborative partnerships with suppliers and service providers.
Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of sourcing and procurement projects, including planning, bid preparation, budgeting, negotiation, invoicing, and reporting
Develop, train, and upskill the procurement team to support the wider business with advanced negotiation skills and best practices
Develop product category strategies aligned with business needs and build a supply chain capable of delivering desired service levels at competitive costs
Drive cost savings through various strategies such as volume leverage, supplier concentration, and supply chain segmentation
Foster collaborative long-term partnerships with suppliers, contractors, and outsourced service providers to reduce costs, meet legislative requirements, and achieve high-quality outcomes
Continuously review and revise the supply chain to drive cost improvements
Develop and implement inventory management strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders, ensuring accurate stock levels and control within agreed parameters
Forecast demand regularly to ensure timely supply and monitor supplier performance against metrics for price, quality, delivery, and customer service
Identify and measure department KPIs to monitor and manage performance
Ensure procurement activities comply with relevant regulatory and best practice frameworks
Requirements
Significant experience operating at an executive leadership level while transforming procurement functions
Proven and visible leadership capability, with the ability to adapt leadership approaches to achieve results
Best-in-class price negotiation skills and the ability to transfer knowledge to a new team
Proven project and program management experience
Experience implementing asset management systems
Ability to constructively challenge the status quo
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Diplomatic with exceptional negotiation skills
Clear, logical thinking, with the ability to present compelling business cases supported by data and analysis
Knowledge of health and safety practices
Commitment to supporting the environment, communities, diversity, and ethical operations
MCIPS accreditation
